Administrative / Biographical History
James Hutton Watkins,,Alex J Penn, were legal clerks who traded under the name of Watkins and Penn and undertook work for J A & J L Campbell & Lamond , solicitors, Edinburgh, Scotland, from offices at 77 West Nile Street, Glasgow, Scotland. The company changed its name around 1870 when Penn left, and J H Watkins began working with another Glasgow-based writer, T A Anderson. This company became known as Watkins and Anderson.
