Solomon Williams was born in 1770 and lived at Brynaerau Isa in the parish of Clynnog, Caernarfonshire. He died in 1848. All the information regarding Solomon Williams has been taken from the papers, created and gathered together by himself and members of his family. As a fairly substantial and intellectual farmer and landowner, he took an active interest in land improvement. He was also, evidently, an active member of the local rural and chapel-going society. The C.M. chapel of Brynaerau stood on the land of Brynaerau Isa. His son John Solomon Williams, whose diaries are also included amongst the Brynaerau manuscripts, was born on 19 August 1836. He was evidently fairly musical, as his membership of the North Wales Choral Union proves. He died in 1877.
