Administrative / Biographical History
The national indexes of name, place, trade and valuations and list of policy holders in policy number order cover the years 1775 to 1787. They were compiled from the fire policy registers of the Sun Fire Office and the Royal Exchange Assurance, the two major fire insurance companies of the period. The index is on microfiche. There is also a printed booklet explaining the organisation of the project
