Administrative / Biographical History
Villiers Barcham Vaughan Powell was born in 1904 and educated at Christ's College, Christchurch, New Zealand; and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, England.
In 1927 he was appointed as Superintendent of Education in Nigeria; he became Principal in 1944. Whilst in Nigeria, Powell also worked with Nigerian sports teams, this included being (sometime) General Team Manager of the Nigerian Olympic Team.
