Records concerning property in Nottingham and Wilford, Nottinghamshire owned by Lt. Col. Percy Robert Clifton, 1901-1920

The principal item in the collection is entitled 'Abstract of the title of Lieutenant Colonel Percy Robert Clifton CME DSO to freehold hereditaments situate in the City of Nottingham and at Wilford Notts.'. It was prepared by the solicitors Freeth, Rawson and Cartwright of Nottingham in 1920.

The will of Henry Juckes Lloyd Bruce, 1 August 1910, is also recorded. The collection includes an insurance policy for Lt. Col. Henry Juckes Lloyd Bruce of Clifton Hall, Clifton, Nottinghamshire dated 19 March 1901.

Lt. Col. Percy Robert Clifton (1872-1944) was the son of Sir Henry Juckes Lloyd Bruce (1843-1919), 4th Baronet of Clifton Hall, Nottinghamshire, who in 1872 married Ellen Maud, daughter of Percy Ricardo of Bramley Park, Guildford. They had twin sons, the elder of which, Harvey Robert Bruce (1872-1924) of Clifton, Nottinghamshire, succeeded as 5th Baronet. His brother, Percy Robert Bruce, assumed the name Clifton by Royal Licence in 1919 and married (1st) Alethiea Georgina (ne Paget, died 1904) and (2nd) Evelyn Amelia (ne Leith).

Sir Henry's parents were Henry Harvey Bruce (b 1820), 3rd Baronet and Marianne, daughter of Sir Juckes Granville Juckes Clifton, 8th Baronet of Clifton, Nottinghamshire.

Henry Robert Clifton (b 1833), who is mentioned in these records, was the only son of Rev. Henry Spencer Markham, Rector of Clifton, Nottinghamshire and Sophia, eldest daughter of Sir John Lister Kaye.
