Scope and Content

A collection of material relating to the First World War compiled by Lieutenant Sidney Archibald Evans. It contains the war diary for the 235 Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, dated August 1917 to February 1918. Other items relating to Evans' service in World War One include 14 trench maps primarily of France, a selection of postcards and photographs, a Christmas card dated 1918, pigeon service message book, a certificate awarded to Evans and two booklets.

Sidney Archibald Evans served as Lieutenant in the Royal Garrison Artillery at the 235 Siege Battery for which he was mentioned in a Despatch on 8th November 1918.
