Scope and Content

J. S. Lloyd and Emyr Williams, solicitors, Wrexham, Denbighsire, active in the 1970s, accumulated a large collection of deeds and corporate records relating to the Wrexham area, partly from the earlier firms of Hugh Hughes of Mold and W. Emyr Williams. The Burton family of Minera Hall, Denbighshire, included Robert Burton (fl. 1774-1818), John Burton (fl. 1819-1884) and John Robert Burton (fl. 1891) who held lands in the parishes of Brymbo, Bryneglwys, Esclusham Above, Minera and Wrexham, in Denbighshire. Grove Park County School for Boys, Wrexham, was opened in 1895, with a girls' school opening a year later. Alice Parry (alive 1910-1912), of Minera, was a student at Portsmouth Day Training College, who later taught at Penygelli School, Coedpoeth, Denbighshire. The collection also includes records of Plaid Cymru, Undeb Cymru Fydd, various local authorities, and Nonconformist chapel records.
