Scope and Content

Miscellaneous papers which include :

Part of an autobiography by Ap Cennin on his early days as a cobbler in Bethesda, as well as memories of Bethesda choir and musicians.

Newspaper cuttings, most of which are the work of Ap Cennin and some which relate to Llanfairfechan, Caernarfonshire.

Essays on the poetical works of Ellis Roberts, Llanfairfechan, and on various aspects of the history of Llanfairfechan such as religion, old houses, industries etc.

Copies of the parish registers of Llanfairfechan from the 17th and 18th centuries and a table of the names of 17th century rectors.

Also, a work entitled Traeth Lafan a Llys Helyg in an unknown hand.

Administrative / Biographical History

John Roberts was born in Llanbedrycennin, Caernarfonshire. As well as being a cobbler and a poet, he also took an interest in local antiquities, contributed extensively to the press and competed in Eisteddfod competitions. He was also a zealous church goer. He died in 1935.
