Memoirs 'Palestine Service March 1947 to May 1948' written by R.A. Ball (2nd Battalion, The Royal Warwickshire Regiment) giving an account of his army service.

Royston Arthur Ball (b.1928)

Born 12 Aug 1928 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. State Education, Apprentice Printer, Joined A.T.C. Conscripted September 1946 to March 1949. Basic training, Budbrooke Barracks, Warwick. Advance training, Strentsall Camp, North Yorkshire. Physical training 10 weeks Chester. Sent to Egypt and moved from Port Suez by military transport to the 2nd Battalion Royal Warwickshire's camp just outside of Haifa in March 1947. The support company Royston Ball was part of then moved to Latrun where the main duty was to keep the road to Jerusalem open and clear for military traffic during the day time. The next move was to Jerusalem where there Royal Warwickshire Regiment carried out battalion duties, patrols and guarding of the area assigned to them which included the A.O.C. residence and the King David Hotel. Transferred to Z reserve list in March 1949.
