Scope and Content

Standard army 'Soldier's Small Book' issued to Henry Moore of the Cheshire Regiment. This book has the orginal grey cloth covers which bears printed titles. Moore has completed these with the name, number and corps. The contents incorporate printed forms for completion by the soldier relating to service with the Army and a range of printed information intended for use during service. Henry Moore has completed some personal details on the printed forms relating to his enlistment and next of kin.

This printed book was published for HMSO by Gale & Polden Ltd, 1901

Administrative / Biographical History

Henry Moore (b 1882) a cycle worker of Cooksey Road, Small Heath, Birmingham, was the son of Alfred and Jane Moore, one of six children. He was born in the parish of Whitechapel, London, and he enlisted in the Army with the Cheshire Regiment on 13 June 1901 for three years and a further nine years in the Reserve.
