Scope and Content

CSCS was a charitable trust which promoted comprehensive values and best practice for secondary schools in England and Wales. The Centre produced a Journal which was initially known as 'All-in Success: The Journal of the Centre for the Study of Comprehensive Schools'.  The Centre also produced broadsheet guides and circulars for Headteachers of secondary schools. The Centre was affiliated to the Universities of Leicester and Northampton.

Administrative / Biographical History

CSCS was a charitable trust that was in existence for approximately 27 years. It was affiliated to the Universities of Leicester and Northampton with a wide membership in schools throughout England and Wales. It was originally based at Moulton College but moved to the University of Northampton in 2006.

CSCS promoted comprehensive values, and best practice in all aspects of secondary education. The centre was involved with consultancy, conferences, production of broadsheets and journals, and supporting the development needs of schools and the teaching profession.

Arrangement

The collection is arranged in to three series.

Series 1 consists of one box containing financial documents and papers relating to Charity Commission registration.

Series 2 consists of one box containing mailshots and newsletters as well as CSCS proposals regarding educational improvement

Series 3 is divided into three sub-series and contains the publications of the organisation:

Sub-series 1 consists of one box containing the master copies of the CSCS broadsheets from 1 to 84.

Sub-series 2 consists of one box containing Volumes 1-11 of All-in Success.

Sub-series 3 consists of one box containing Volumes 12-18 of the renamed CSCS Journal.
