In a letter to the Librarian dated 18 January 1956, he refers to them as follows: "In Tom Ellis 's last years , he was editing Morgan Llwyd for the Guild of Graduates , and he entrusted to me at the British Museum the work of correcting the proofs, as J.H. Davies kindly acknowledged in the preface to vol.II I became interested in the period and particularly in the welshmen connected with it, especially the regicide, John Jones of Maesygarnedd, and in William Salisbury's work and took rough notes in 5 memorandum books."
