Scope and Content

For his homage and service, John de Wygehale [Wiggenhall], knight, confirms his gift to Herlewin son of Paulinus of the parish of All Saints, Lenne [Lynn, Norfolk], of Bryctmerescroft in the said parish, lying between lands late belonging to Robert son of Michael Pellipar' and Master Walter de Esexe, the lands of John son of Gilbert to the north, and Hallemilnefleth to the south, together with another piece of land late belonging to the said Robert in the same parish, lying between the lands late belonging to Simon Fordwan to the north and the aforesaid croft to the south, which tenement Richard de Dockinge, burgess of Lynn, sold to the aforesaid Herlewin. Annual quit-rent of 3s 6d payable for all services. Warranty clause excepts the dower rights of Matilda, wife of Richard de Dockinge. Witnessed by John de Yspania, then mayor of Lenne, Peter de Thrundeyn, then alderman of the same, John son of Gilbert, Robert de Rungeton', Robert Costyn, Hugh de Colveston, Reginald Sweyn, Richard de Brandon, Ralph de Brunham, John de Bauseye, clerk, and others. Tag, with trace of seal. Endorsed in a fourteenth-century hand: 'de britm[er]es croft', and in a later hand on the tag: '19.E.1'.
