Scope and Content

This collection contains the personal papers of Margaret Violet Johnson (nee Hanson.) This includes:

Postcard from Muriel Emery to Margaret Violet Johnson. Unstamped, and unsent. Postcard is plain, and Emery writes on both sides. Message is a thank you note to Johnson, who was Emery's nurse. c.1947- c.1959. Postcard reads:

"Dear Fair Night Nurse. I was so sorry I left without a chance to say how grateful to you I am for your kindness to me the first few nights without you I could not have endured the pain. Without your care & attention in the night. I use to look at you calm & serene & feel safe. One has queer fancies when one is sick & no one ever knew how much I feared the nights so please accept my ever grateful thanks you helped a lot. Sincerely yours, Muriel Emery." [Message has been transcribed verbatim]
