Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
By the late 19th century, the firm of Marshall, Flaming and Co was established as a crane builders and engineering firm in Dellburn, Meadow Rd, Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The partnership consisted of John Marshall, John Fleming and Robert Shearer Anderson. In 1915, Marshall, Flaming & Co Ltd was incorporated to acquire the business with the previous partners as directors. The new company had a capital of £50,000 which had risen to £62,380 by 1948. In 1962, the company appointed G W Gordon , engineer agents, Durham, England to be their representatives in the North East area of England. In 2002, the company was still active, based in Bothwell, Glasgow, Scotland.
