Administrative / Biographical History

Sir David Lewis Evans, 1893-1987, was the Deputy Keeper of Public Records at the Public Record Office and also an external examiner on the Diploma Course in Archive Administration at the University College of North Wales.

At the PRO, he was the originator of the successful scheme to evacuate records to provincial centres during World War II.

He was the editor of Flintshire ministers' accounts, 1328-1353 published in 1929 and he also contributed a chapter to the The History of Carmarthenshire, edited by Sir J. E. Lloyd.
