Scope and Content

In consideration of #30, John Goldisborowe the younger of Cambridge, burgess and butcher, assigns to William Bosam of Cambridge, apothecary, the remainder of his lease dated 1571 from the Master and Fellows of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, of a tenement with other shops in the parish of St Mary next the market in Cambridge, between the churchyard of the said parish on the west and Well Lane on the east, abutting south upon the tenements of St John's College, now or late in the occupation of William Hasyll, and north upon the tenement of William Dowsey, formerly William Barforthe. The current sub-tenant is Hasyll. The length of lease is not mentioned. Deed poll, the mark of John Goldisborowe, seal wanting, witnessed by John Howell, John Goodwyn, Edward Ball and John Norkot. Endorsed in several later hands: 'Lib Cant 224', 'Cambridge No 14', 'Camb' St Mary', and 'Enterd: 224'.

Purchased at Sotheby's, Lot 19 (Phillipps MS 32068), 13 April 1981. Appears to have once belonged to J. Blomefield, author of The History of Norfolk.
