Scope and Content

The records comprise a large accumulation of 1960's advertising literature amassed by Benedict, relating mainly to other firms. Many of these firms are overseas manufacturers, and consequently the items were issued in a variety of languages. There are also some 31 different items of Benedict's own literature. The publicity covers a wide range of agricultural equipment, including cultivating, harvesting, processing and transport machinery, though there is an especial emphasis on potato harvesters. The collection also contains posters for Wisent potato harvesters, Germany and Versatile 103 self-propelled swathers, 10-18 foot cuts, Hydraulic Engineering Manufacturing Co, Canada, the house journal of Cropstores Ltd, Yorkshire, booklets concerning display stands built for exhibitions by Ace Associated Wood Companies Ltd, London and booklets concerning range products and plant of Maschinefabrik Rau OHG, Germany, proofs of leaflets for orbital rotary harrows and Skjold Delta fertiliser distributors and photographs of a disc drill, Horwood Bagshaw Group of Companies, Australia.
