Scope and Content

Hornton is a village to the far north of Oxfordshire, not far from Banbury. It has always been a chapelry in the parish of Horley, although it has maintained its own registers and parish officials.

See the Introduction to PAR138 for further details on these two parishes, and see too PAR138/16/H1/1 for the Enclosure Award for both Horley and Hornton.

The parish records of Hornton were deposited with Oxfordshire Archives in 1986 as part of Accession No. 2532. An appendix provides a concordance for old and new references.

Recatalogued by Robin Darwall-Smith in September 1996.
