Scope and Content

Titles, legal and estate papers relating to Struie and Struie-Hay in Perthshire, Monthrivie later Montrave in the parish of Scoonie, Fife, Newbigging and Kingask by St Andrews, Fife.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Hay of Struie and Anderson of Newbigging families joined as a result of the marriage of Alexander Anderson, minister of Falkland, and later of St Andrews and Isabella Hay, daughter of Francis Hay of Struie. The Hay family died out in the male line a generation later with the death of Andrew Hay in 1782 when the older titles and some personal papers of Dr Robert Hay (Isabella's half brother) passed to the Andersons.
