Scope and Content

In consideration of 5s, John Brackenbury and Henry King of Cambridge, gents, Peter Carew esq of Cambridge, and Mary his wife, and Daniel Love of Cambridge, gent (son and heir of Daniel Love of Cambridge, brewer, by Martha his wife, both deceased), lease two tenements south of the Sun Inn in the parish of All Saints, Cambridge, for one year to Cornelius Austin of Cambridge, joiner, at peppercorn rent as first stage in process of lease and release. Austin is the current occupier of one tenement, formerly Thomas Dean's, while the other is currently occupied by Stephen Merrill and Richard Walton. Austin is also granted access to the water pump and dung hill in the yard of the Sun Inn. Release: Doc 3728. Indenture, signed and sealed by Brackenbury, King, Love and the Carews, witnessed by Elizabeth ?Dall and Agnes Lawson, duty stamps. Endorsed in early nineteenth-century hand: 'NB. This deed sets forth / the exact abutment of Mrs Dresser's / estate in All Saints Parish as it was in / her possession. / The length from east to west 120 feet / the breadth 15 feet and the breadth / of the yard 16 feet'.
