Administrative / Biographical History

In 1855, and Act of Parliament authorised the creation of Bangor Market and Public Institutions Company Ltd. to construct and manage a market house and other buildings in Bangor, Caernarfonshire. In 1903, an Act authorised the transfer of the company to the Borough of Bangor, but it continued as an independent company. During the Second World War, part of the market hall was requisitioned for aircraft manufacture. The company was still incorporated at 18th February 1977. In 1980, the Bangor Market Act transferred its activities to Bangor Market Company.
