Holograph sermons of Thomas Lambarde, namely:

  • (a) folios 3-15v: on Psalms xviii 3, marked on preceding folio: Ash, February 28th -1794;
  • (b) folios 17-28: on 1 Samuel xii 25, marked on following folio: Ash, March 7th -1798;
  • (c) folios 35-47: on 1 Corinthians xv 23, marked on preceding folio: Ash, Easter Day-1790, 1794, 1799;
  • (d) folios 49-61v: on Luke xii 48, marked on preceding folio: Ash, August 1st -1790.

Administrative / Biographical History

Thomas Lambarde or Lambard (1758-1811), son of Thomas Lambard of Sevenoaks esq., was educated at Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford, where he matriculated on 5 June 1776. He obtained his BA degree in 1780, and his MA three years later. In 1783 he was appointed rector of Ash and Ridley in Kent, where his father held the patronage of the living. He held the rectory until his death on 19 April 1811, and he was later also rector of Horsted, Sussex. He was responsible for refurbishing the nave of Ash church in the early 1790s.
