The collection consists of a series of large technical drawings and plans (late 19th cent - mid 20th century) which relate to steam ships operated by the London and North Western Railway (L&NWR) and Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway (L&YR) on the Irish Sea crossings between Holyhead and Dublin, Howth and Greenore. The majority of the drawings relate to the 'TSS Colleen Bawn' and her sister ship, the 'TSS Mellifont' (built 1903) which provided a Holyhead to Dublin/Greenore - passenger / cargo service between 1928 and 1931/33. However, the collection also includes a number of drawings for other important vessels on this route including, inter alia, the TSS Rosstrevor (1895); SS Connemara (1897); TSS Galtee More (1898); TSS Cambria (1920).
