Scope and Content

The papers deal principally with reprisals against and the embargo of British property; naval preparations in Mallorca for the war against Great Britain; the treatment and exchange of British prisoners; with the Captain General of Catalonia about the conduct of Felix Gilbert, the [?]Prussian vice-consul in Barcelona; and about a Spanish translation of Thomas Paine's writings as DECADENCIA Y RUINA DEL SISTEMA DE RENTAS DE INGLATERRA. Included are incoming correspondence and enclosures, annotated by Godoy and his secretary, with drafts or copies of Godoy's replies.
