Scope and Content

The contents comprise: (1) Two typescript memoirs, "Polish interlude" and "Warsaw revisited 1960"; (2) Four albums of souvenirs and photographs of people and places in Poland, mostly identified; (3) Two letters; (4) A collection of printed books and pamphlets mainly on Polish affairs and the work of UNRRA, but including also a small number of London theatre programmes, and other material

Administrative / Biographical History

UNRRA, the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration was set up in Washington in November 1943, before the end of the Second World War.Its aim was to provide assistance to war victims in the occupied countries and to ensure effective relief and rehabilitation. The organisation was staffed by an international civil service. Lilian Robinson, who had been a secretary in Bradford, was recruited to work for UNRRA in early 1946 and was sent to Poland in May of that year
