Administrative / Biographical History
UNRRA, the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration was set up in Washington in November 1943, before the end of the Second World War.Its aim was to provide assistance to war victims in the occupied countries and to ensure effective relief and rehabilitation. The organisation was staffed by an international civil service. Lilian Robinson, who had been a secretary in Bradford, was recruited to work for UNRRA in early 1946 and was sent to Poland in May of that year
