Scope and Content

Diaries, 1914-17, 1928-9, and commentary on Epictetus, 1911-13, by Eden and Cedar Paul:

  • diary, mainly in the hand of Cedar Paul, Aug. 1914-June 1917, including lists of letters received and sent, notes of translations and other literary work undertaken, and two photographs. The label 'Imprimerie, Papeterie, Registres. Baltzer, 2, Rue Taine' appears on the inside upper cover.
  • Diary, Oct. 1928-Mar. 1929, in Paris, written by (fols. 1-6, 22-49) Eden Paul, and (fols. 6-22) Cedar Paul.
  • Notebook containing commentary on Epictetus, 1911-13, carbon typescript pasted in, continued in manuscript, also labelled 'Imprimerie, Papeterie, Registres. Baltzer, 2, Rue Taine'.

Administrative / Biographical History

Eden Paul (1865-1944) was an author. Cedar Paul (d. 1972) was a singer. The pair translated numerous works together, from French, German, Italian and Russian. See Who Was Who for details.
