Scope and Content

A collection of deeds and other legal documents relating to the Prices of Rhiwlas and the Lloyds of Rhiwedog in Merioneth, touching on properties in the parishes of Llandderfel, Llanfor and Llangywer in Merioneth; Abergele and Llanarmon-yn-Il in Denbighshire; St Asaph in Flintshire and Llyn, Caernarfonshire.

Administrative / Biographical History

This collection relates to two Merioneth families, the Prices of Rhiwlas and the Lloyds of Rhiwedog, whose estates eventually merged. In particular, it features, John Lloyd of the Faenol estate, Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire and his efforts to build an estate, at home and in the Penllyn district of Merioneth. He died in 1615. In 1596, his daughter and heiress Anne (d. 1608) married John Price of Rhiwlas (d. 1613) and as a result, the Prices of Rhiwlas gained the Faenol estate.
