Scope and Content

Whereas a marriage is to be solemnised between Edmond Prideaux son of Sir Edmond Prideaux, Bt, of Netherton, Farway, Devon and Mary Reynardson daughter of Samuell Reynardson of London; Samuell Reynardson and Mary Reynardson in consideration of a settlement made by Edmond Prideaux release to Gideon Harvey of Westminster, Jacob Reynardson of Bristol, Joseph Reynardson of London and Phineas Cheek of Lyons (sic) Inn certain land in the above parishes, to them and their heirs for ever, to the use of Samuell Reynardson and Mary Reynardson as at present until the marriage, then to the use of Samuell Reynardson for life with power of leasing, then to the use of Edmond Prideaux for life with power of leasing, then to the use of Mary Reynardson for life with the power of leasing, then to Gideon Harvey, Jacob Reynardson, Joseph Reynardson and Phineas Cheek during the lives of Edmond Prideaux and Mary Reynardson in trust to permit Edmond and Mary Reynardson to take the profits, after their death to the use of the younger sons and the daughters of Edmond Prideaux and Mary Reynardson and their heirs as tenants in common, in default to the use of the sons and daughters of Mary Reynardson by a second husband and their heirs as tenants in common, in default to the use of the first or only son of Edmond Prideaux and Mary Reynardson and his heirs, in default to Samuell Reynardson and his heirs for ever; if a younger son become the eldest or only son by the death of the eldest, his share becomes void; Samuell Reynardson, Edmond Prideaux and Mary Reynardson may lease the land. Certain leases are excepted. Whereas certain copyhold lands in the manors of Collham Swackley or Swakeley Edgware and Kingsbury, Middlesex are vested in Jacob Reynardson and Joseph Reynardson and their heirs in trust after the deaths of Samuell Reynardson and Francis Clerke fo Mary Reynardson; it is agreed that Jacob Reynardson and Joseph Reynardson shall stand seised of them in trust for Samuell Reynardson for life, then in trust for Francis Clerke for life, then in trust for Edmond Prideaux and Mary Reynardson for life, then upon the same trusts as above. Witnesses: Thomas Lannard, Robert Anning, Robert Southam, Thomas Wibard. Seven seals are attached.
