Administrative / Biographical History

Thomas Lewis, grocer and draper, built Glansychan House at Abersychan, Monmouthshire, in about 1863 and it served as his home and business premises until his death. He had a number of siblings including Alfred Lester Lewis and Benjamin Lewis (1855-1897). Thomas's son, William Lewis (1846-1933) continued the business. William Lewis and his wife Annie had three children, William Lester, Thomas Ewart and Esther Annie. He retired from Abersychan in 1913 and continued to deal in shares and property. His daughter, Elsie Annie, married Ronald Gus Williams.
