    • 15 letters (29 ff. with 28 ff. conjoined in 14 pairs), 13 ff. of notes, of which 5 are sewn together, 4 ff. of a manuscript poem conjoined, 3 ff. of the same poem in a cover conjoined, and 1 printed obituary notice, all held in 3 envelopes and a melinex folder, manuscript and printed material. The material was formerly bound into a volume containing also transcripts of the letters, notes, and poems, which is now shelved in a separate author/alphabetical sequence following the main sequence of Miscellaneous Letters.

Scope and Content

Comprises: (1) 12 autograph letters from Norrison Scatcherd to Jacob Edmondson between 27 May 1834 and 10 October 1838; 1 letter from Jacob Wood to J.S. Edmondson dated 26 February 1836; 1 letter from Edmondson to Scatcherd undated [possibly 1835]; and 1 letter from Scatcherd to Miss Topham dated 22 December 1828 (all with transcripts); (2) 13 ff. of manuscript notes concerning the crime of Eugene Aram, his trial, and execution at York in 1759 extracted from the York Courant and other papers; (3) 2 manuscript versions of the poem written by Thomas Gent of York in 1759 concerning the life and death of Eugene Aram; (4) 1 printed obituary notice for Jacob Edmondson dated Bradford, 18 July 1873.
