Administrative / Biographical History

The Ashmolean Natural History Society (A.N.H.S.) was formed in 1901 from the amalgamation of the Ashmolean Society and the Oxfordshire Natural History Society and Field Club (O.N.H.S.).

Acquisition Information

The collection was partly deposited by the Ashmolean Natural History Society in 1978-9, 1981, and 1990; partly given to the Library by Mr F.A. Bellamy in 1914 and 1918; and partly purchased from Robin Waterfield Ltd. of Oxford in 1981.
