Bargain and sale, Chatteris, Cambridgeshire

Agreement between Henry Partridge esq, Philip Case and Scarlet Browne gents, bankruptcy commissioners against Richard Camps of Wormegay, Norfolk, merchant (of the first part), John Bateman of Chatteris, merchant, George Spurgin of Great Cressingham, Norfolk, farmer, and Joseph Jex of Wiggenhall St Germains, Norfolk, farmer, three of the assignees of the estate and effects of Camps chosen at a meeting of creditors on 19 Dec 1778 (of the second part), and Robert Grimditch of Chatteris, gent, another assignee, who had successfully bid #157 5s for Camps' copyhold property in Croload, Burnsfield and elsewhere, manor of Chatteris Ramsey, some 16 acres in all, at auction on 5 May 1779 (of the third part). Upon payment of the said #157 5s to the other assignees and of 5s apiece to the commissioners, the properties aforesaid are sold to Grimditch. Tripartite indenture, signed and sealed by Partridge, Case, Browne, Bateman, Spurgin, and Jex (who makes his mark), duty stamps, with receipt of consideration money, same day, signed by Bateman, Spurgin and Jex (his mark), duty stamps, enrolled in Chancery on 12 Nov 1781. Grimditch has endorsed the document with notes on his own disposal of the various properties.
