There are six cassettes and one reel-to-reel tape of field recordings made by Dr Peter L Shinnie of the Mahas dialect of Nubian, together with research notes and correspondence, including key word lists relating to the Mahas, Kunuz and Dongalawi dialects. Some of these tapes and their transcripts relate to taped sentences translated into Mahas by the family of Ali Osman in Mishakeili, who worked with Dr Shinnie on the project in the 1980s.
