Alexander Scrimgeour (fl.1696-d.1732), de jure fourth Earl of Dundee and a Jacobite sympathiser, was regent and then professor of philosophy at St Salvator's College. In 1713 he was appointed as second master and professor of divinity at the New College (St Mary’s), although not without opposition. He was suspended after the Jacobite rebellion.
