Scope and Content

The papers of Marion Greenwood Bidder consist of her University certificates 1882 and 1883. Seven photographs including portraits of herself and a group of student and lecturers, Newnham College c 1888. A cookery book containing printed recipes from the Liverpool and Glasgow Training Schools of Cookery c 1893. Obituaries, Memorial Order of Service (held at Girton College), newspaper notices of her funeral, 1932-1933.

Administrative / Biographical History

Marion Greenwood Bidder was born in 1862 and died in 1932. She was a student at Girton from 1879 to 1883 studying Natural Sciences and returned as a Lecturer from 1888 until 1899. She was one of the first women to pursue independent research in Cambridge and was a founder and director of the Balfour Laboratory 1890-1899.
