Administrative / Biographical History
Charles Peter Hill was born in Stoke-on-Trent in 1914. He was educated at Redruth Grammar School, Dean Close School, Cheltenham, and Pembroke College, Oxford, receiving an MA in Modern History in 1936. He taught at various schools including Bristol Grammer until 1959 when he became a lecturer in the Institute of Education at the University of Exeter from 1960 and was a Senior Lecturer from 1966 until 1977. He was also Sub-Dean in the Faculty of Education during the 1970s.
His publications include:
'British essays in American history' (1957); 'Franklin Roosevelt' (1966); 'Who's who in Stuart Britain' (1988).
