During the early years of the eighteenth century John Ellis, antiquary and genealogist, of Taicroesion Ucha, Llechylched, Anglesey, compiled a collection of pedigrees in two volumes, mainly of Anglesey and Caernarfonshire families, known as the Taicroesion Book of Pedigrees. J. E. Griffith, in the preface to his Pedigrees of Caernarfonshire and Anglesey Families (1914) describes the collection as the most reliable authority relating to Anglesey and Caernarfonshire families.
