Includes details of training courses in bombing and gunnery held in South Africa; information about training flights; and a record of active service flights over Germany made with 158 Squadron, Lissett. Concludes on 19 February 1944 when HEJ's Halifax Bomber crashed on take-off for an operation against Leipzig, killing all on board.

Enclosed: letter from Ministry of Defence, London to H S Chapman (the donor) replying with further biographical information about HEJ. Identifies him as Harold Elfed Jones of Penmaenmawr, who was born on 9 March 1922, and who served as a wireless operator/air gunner with 158 Sqn. Gives information about other categories of personal service documents, their type, location and restrictions to access.
