Administrative / Biographical History

The Dialectic Society was established in 1787. Along with the Scots Law, Plinian, Hunterian Medical and Diagnostic Societies, it formed The Associated Societies during the session of 1833-1834. This stemmed from earlier cooperation the previous session in opposition to Edinburgh Town Council and the Senatus Academicus of the University.
