Papers of Ralph Millner including publications by the People's Progressive Party; handwritten notes on the law; legal ordinances relating to British Guiana; correspondence from Cheddi Jagan; Guyanese newspapers c1961, such as Thunder and the Daily Chronicle, which include coverage of Millner's involvement as legal representative of the People's Progressive Party and the trial of Ashton Chase, President of the Senate, British Guiana. Also files on the trial of Kwame Nkrumah and others in the Gold Coast (Ghana) including Nkrumah's correspondence with the colonial authorities, 1950; legal documents relating to imprisonment of Anthony Woode and Alfred (Pobee) Biney of the Gold Coast TUC; court documents relating to trials (including the Kenyatta trial of 1953) relating to the emergency in Kenya during the Mau Mau insurgency, 1950s; trials of Yopa Louis Fernand, and Mayoa Beck in Cameroon, c1959-1960; trial of Abdul Mohamed Babu in Zanzibar, 1962; Sierra Leone election pamphlets and manifesto of the All Peoples (People's) Congress, 1962; correspondence with D. Administrative / Biographical History

Ralph Millner was an English Queen's Counsel, whose cases including representing three People's Progressive Party Assemblymen in a case in British Guiana regarding election petitions in 1961. He was an occasional contributor to the radical journal Labour Monthly. He gained an MA at Cambridge University and was called to the English Bar in January 1934. He was called to the Bar subsequently in the Gold Coast (January 1950), Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and British Guiana.

Bernard Marder was born in Manchester and educated at Manchester University. He became a Queen's Counsel and later a judge. In January 1993, he was appointed as the President of the Land Tribunal.
