Scope and Content

Wolvercote is an ancient parish between 2 and 3 miles north-west of Oxford city centre. Its chapel was originally subject to St.Peter-in-the-East church in Oxford, but was independent by the end of the 1600s. In 1976 the parish was united with St. Michael's, Summertown, and a team ministry created. In 1982 the benefice started an ecumenical project with Summertown United Reformed Church.

Many of the records were originally handed to the Bodleian Library in 1983, before being transferred here. Most of the rest were deposited in July 1995 (accession number 3995). Further accessions, made under the references 4515, 4845 and 5021 were made in June 1999, May 2001 and July 2002 respectively.

Catalogued by Mark Priddey, January 1997 amended in June 1998, with further additions made by Hannah Jones, September 2003.
