Scope and Content

A manuscript which is said to have belonged to Sir William Jones, orientalist and jurist, and which contains notes on cases tried in India for trespass, assault, murder, etc., including cases for the Pundits, together with the answers, 'Sir William Jones's charge to the Grand Jury in 1788', 'Copy of a Paper in the handwriting of the Late Sir W. Jones', queries relating to Hindu law, etc.

Custodial History

After it left the possession of Sir William Jones, the manuscript belonged to Sir Lawrence Jenkins, K.C.S.I., of Cilbronnau, Cardiganshire, who also spent many years in India.
