Messrs. Jones and Morris, Sailmakers of Portmadoc, a seaport town in Gwynedd, is listed in Slater's Directory for 1895, as Peter Jones & Co. As well as making sails, the company also fitted them and supplied accessories for ships.
Portmadoc, being close to the larger port of Caernarfon, was also the location for shipbuilders in the nineteenth century and its harbour was used for the transport of slate from the nearby quarries.
