Administrative / Biographical History

Charles Ashton (1848-1899), bibliographer and library historian, was born at Llawr-y-glyn, Montgomeryshire. He served with the police force at Dinas Mawddwy, but published several books on historical and literary topics, the most important of which is Hanes Llenyddiaeth Gymreig o 1651 hyd 1850 (1893), and also competed in 'eisteddfodau'.
