Scope and Content

Two minute books of the Presbytery and Assembly meetings of the Presbyterian Church on the Khasi and Jaintia Hills, together with minutes of the District Committee of the missionaries on the Khasi Hills and copies of letters and statistics, 1869 - 1913.

Administrative / Biographical History

Thomas Jones (1810 - 1849), a miller from Berriw, Montgomeryshire was the first Calvinistic Methodist missionary on the Khasi Hills, India and the first to reduce the Khasi tongue to writing.

Several published works are available on the history of the Presbyterian mission in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills e.g. The History of the Welsh Calvinistic Methodists' Foreign Mission to the End of the Year 1904 by John Hughes Morris and Gwalia in Khasia by Nigel Jenkins.
