Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Local Government Act 1894 established urban and rural district councils. These were replaced by District Councils such as South Pembrokeshire District Council in 1974, which were responsible for local administration, including local planning, housing, environmental health, cemeteries and leisure services. The District Councils were replaced by unitary authorities in 1996. Pembroke Borough and Neyland Urban District development maps were produced in 1971 as part of the County Development plan for Pembrokeshire.
