This collection of personal papers and photographs relates to Lance Corporal Jones's period as a prisoner of war in the German camps at Dulman, Friedrichsfeld, Sennelager and elsewhere in Germany during the First World War. Edward Jones' notebook in which he details receipt of food and clothing parcels together with the many photographs illustrate life in the Prisoner of War camps and also identify some of his fellow prisoners.

Edward Henry Jones was born at Wrexham on 8 October 1893 and died in 1980. He served, as Lance Corporal (P.S. 4837) with the 2nd Royal Fusiliers, was taken prisoner on 28 February 1917 and spent the rest of the First World War in captivity. He twice made an escape from camps. He spent time at Dulman Camp, March-April 1917 and at Friedrichsfeld Camp, April-November 1917. In 1918 he spent time in the Sennelager camp from where he was repatriated in December 1918.
