Comprises: i) School Natural Science Society Publications (- Leaflets) nos. 1-49 (incomplete); ii) School nature study, vol.51, no.202, January 1956 to vol.57, no.229, October 1964 (wanting no.211); iii) Teaching science, vol.1, nos.1-3, 1983; iv) Natural science in schools, vol 2, no.3, November 1964 to vol.20, no.3, autumn 1982 (incomplete), with index, 1963-1977; v) envelope containing miscellaneous items, including photographs; vi) envelope containing photocopied correspondence; vii) audio-cassette of the Society's Presidential address, March 1978.

Administrative / Biographical History

The School Natural Science Society was originally founded as the School Nature Study Union in 1903 by Miss K.M. Hall and the Rev. Claude Hinscliff to encourage the study of biology and nature in schools. Its name and constitution were amended during the early 1960s. Its executive committee meets several times every year. The Society publishes the journal entitled Natural Science in Schools.
