Scope and Content

The notebook contains handwritten notes detailing the history of the Manchester and Salford Equitable Co-operative Society which was founded in 1859. Recalled in some detail is the staging of a pageant at Belle View Stadium in 1936 to celebrate the anniversary of the formation of the Society. In the rear of the notebook are the authors personal recollections of her early association with the Co-operative Movement.

Administrative / Biographical History

Jean Thomason was for seven years the Regional Secretary of the Co-operative Women's Guild and spent 4 years on the Regional Council of the Co-operative Women's Guild.
